The Survivor Ladder Belt meets the requirements for a fire service ladder belt or escape belt with an updated lightweight design. It feature a 4-inch wide padded belt and the auto-locking CMC XL Carabiner which will fit around almost any rung or railing. The snap hook closure makes the belt easy to don, even when wearing gloves.

CMC created the Pick Off Strap so that a rescuer could quickly connect to the victim and then adjust the strap to the best length. CMC Pick Off Strap works well for positioning the victim for a lowering or rappel-based pick off or for an assisted rappel. We added a loop to the end for a more positive grip when pulling to adjust. Our ProSeries blue web improves the long-term performance, especially where it threads through the buckle. D-Ring end is rated at 8,039 lbs. (36 kN). Depending on how the buckle is loaded, it will begin to slip between 3,500 to 4,500 lbs (15-20 kN), and tying off the buckle will increase the strength.

The unique design of the dorsal D-Ring allows adjustment for different size rescuers, but stays in place when loaded, greatly increasing comfort. Gear loops have been added for storing equipment, but their design allows easy removal when using the harness for confined space entries. While teaching Confined Space Rescue we've learned what works and what doesn't when you're pulling communications cable, air lines, and safety lines. After trying tried wrap-around covers, zip-on covers, and just taping the lines together, we discovered Protecto Cable Wrap. This polyester mesh tubing is less expensive and less bulky than other alternatives, and it slides around corners and doesn't catch on obstructions. It slides on easily - no zippers to fail or hooks and loops to release at the wrong time. The material won't absorb or hold liquids so it is easier to maintain and clean. The different colors aids in identifying lines. It will fit line bundles from 1/2 to 1-1/4 inch in diameter. Rated to 125 F.

We designed the CMC Rescue 8 with Ears for fire service, rescue, and police tactical operations. The aluminum model has proven the excellence of the design in the field, working well on rope diameters from 7/16-inch to 3/4-inch. The steel model performs exceptionally well in high-wear situations, such as helicopter operations. The CMC Rescue 8 is big enough to allow a safe lock off with larger diameter ropes, and the carabiner hole has enough room for extra carabiners. The steel Rescue 8 is drop forged and nickel chrome plated.

Whether hard or soft, the surface anodizing on aluminum descenders eventually wears through. Working with a company that specializes in material coatings, we have developed a finish for our Rescue 8 that outwears every descender we have used. Our test sample spent over 6 months in CMC Rescue School classes with multiple rappels in each class without showing any indication of the surface wearing through.

Have you noticed that while radios are getting smaller, we are carrying more and more electronics? The Com-Center is designed to fit the smaller radio units but also have a place for your cell phone and GPS. It also has a number of design features that add to the comfort. The new strap system is wider and the elasticized waist strap carries more of the weight, reducing the load on the shoulders. The shoulder straps adjust with Velcro on the front, eliminating any buckles or adjusters on the shoulder or under shoulder straps. Front pocket with flap fits most cell phones and small GPS units. (During field tests, we found that the Garmin eTrex units maintained their satellite reception when carried in the pocket.) The back of the panel is padded with D3 Cloth for comfort and breathability. The full-size back pocket is big enough for a notebook or folded map. Radio pocket is adjustable for a secure fit and a zippered front pocket can be used to hold spare batteries or other small items.

Aluminum wheels and sideplates are anodized in contrasting colors for ease of rigging. Unique cam design does not rely on teeth for holding power, but works with a camming action like a Gibbs or Rescucender. Cam locks out of the way for lowering, then releases to protect a raising. Includes a 15-foot cord, which may be attached to either the pin release for the cam lock or to the cam itself for remote activation. The Escape Artist offers what most other escape devices do not -- a hands-free edge transition and a controllable descent. The Escape Artist lays out the rope smoothly and then locks when loaded, allowing both hands to be used to negotiate the exit. Squeezing the lever gives the use control of the descent rate.
