Rope Rescue Testing - Scarab Drop Test
This test was done to observe if the Conterra SCARAB would be damaged by a severe shock load, and if it could still function after the drop. This is a severe test, designed to approximate a "worst case scenario" of a heavy rescue load dropping on a tied off lowering device, such as might happen at the beginning of an operation, before separate belay can catch. This was a 1M drop on 3M of rope, with a 280 kg mass.
